Grandmother`s apartments are generally defined as „second homes,“ which means they are built on the same lot as the main apartment. Most often, a grandmother`s apartment is a self-contained building in the backyard of the apartment and are „closed in itself,“ meaning they have a separate entrance and en suite bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, laundromat and living room. If this is the case, the Housing Rent Act has specific rules for a tenant`s payment of a tenant for the consumption of a public service. All conditions added to a lease must comply with the law.
