Mpd Labor Agreement

In the event of a situation requiring an extension of the duration, the manager or supervisor must contact his or her human resources business partner. It may be necessary to check the employment contracts concerned in a given language as regards the method of extending the duration. „Members of the Metropolitan Police Department put their lives on the line every day to protect our city,“ said Mayor Muriel Bowser. „This new collective agreement shows our commitment to the brave men and women who help us build a safer and stronger Washington, D.C.“ „I appreciate the work that city management and our police union have put into this process and I am pleased that they have reached an agreement,“ said Chief Newsham. „This increase will help attract new public servants to the Metropolitan Police Department as we continue to navigate the current retirement bubble.“ The collective agreement is submitted for ratification to the members of the DC Police Union. After approval by the District of Columbia Council, the agreement would take effect immediately. The agreement concludes more than a year of negotiations with the DC Police Union and demonstrates the Bowser administration`s continued commitment to a safer and stronger DC. With the new contract – the first collective agreement reached since 2001 between the district and the DC Police Union, without ending up in a stalemate or arbitration – the district ensures that it remains the preferred employer of legal professionals. The agreement supports significant investments in the Mayor`s budget for fiscal year 2019, including the purchase of new uniforms for all MPD officials, the expansion of the MPD Cadet Program so that up to 100 district higher education graduates can begin a pursuit career, and funding for police retention programs. Those who wish to testify before the committee are requested to contact Ms. Charnisa Royster at labor@dccouncil.us or (202) 724-7772 until the close of business on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 to indicate her name, address, telephone number, organizational membership and title (if applicable) as well as the language of oral interpretation, if applicable.

Those who wish to testify will be encouraged, but not required to file 15 copies of the written testimony.
