The Extradition Act implements Canada`s international obligations under extradition treaties, namely the imprisonment of persons wanted for prosecution or the payment of a sentence imposed on them in the foreign state. Extradition proceedings shall be conducted in accordance with the rule of law and constitutional principles. In some cases, the threshold may be five years in prison depending on the jurisdiction requesting jurisdiction if the alleged offence was committed in Canada under a particular contract between extradition partners. Once these requirements have been met, the judge checks a collection of documents compiled by the requesting State, called the „Record of the Case“ (ROC). . . .
